Frequently Asked Questions

About Therapy

What makes your approach different?

This is intensive, specialist therapy. Sessions are 90 minutes (not 50), allowing for deeper work without rushing. I’m trained to Level 3 in Internal Family Systems and certified in Brainspotting – advanced modalities that require years of training and ongoing supervision. I integrate a metabolic psychiatry perspective, addressing the whole person – mind, body, and nervous system. I see fewer clients and provide more sustained, personalised support.

What therapeutic methods do you use?

I draw from a range of evidence-based methods, each chosen to support your specific goals and the kind of change you’re ready for. My core modalities include Internal Family Systems (IFS), Brainspotting (BSP), and metabolic psychiatry principles. I also integrate trauma-informed approaches that work with your nervous system, not against it.

How long does therapy typically take?

This varies depending on your goals and what you’re working through. Some clients find significant shifts in a few months, while others choose to continue for deeper, ongoing work. I encourage one or two weekly sessions initially to build momentum, with the option to adjust frequency as we progress. This isn’t quick-fix therapy—it’s about sustainable, lasting change.

What’s the difference between counselling, psychotherapy, coaching, psychology, and psychiatry?

Counselling

  • Short to medium term

  • Focused on specific issues, life transitions, or challenges

  • Helps with emotional support, problem-solving, and coping strategies

Psychotherapy

  • Longer-term, in-depth work

  • Explores emotional patterns, relational dynamics, and past experiences

  • Aims to support lasting inner change and self-understanding

Coaching

  • Goal-driven and future-oriented

  • Focuses on performance, mindset, or motivation

  • Not typically used for trauma or emotional processing

Psychology

  • The study and application of human behaviour and mental processes

  • Includes assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatments

  • Often used in mental health, educational, and organisational settings

Psychiatry

  • A medical field specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness

  • Uses medication as a key treatment tool

  • Often combined with other forms of therapy

I work in the fields of counselling and psychotherapy, with advanced clinical training in trauma-informed methods, including Brainspotting, Internal Family Systems, TRTP, and metabolic approaches.

I’m a member of PACFA, ACA, and the ACA College of Supervisors, and I consistently exceed the required standards of ethical practice and professional development.

What kinds of issues can we work on?

Common areas include:

  • Relationship challenges (with others or with yourself)

  • Work dynamics, over-functioning, or burnout

  • Boundaries, confidence, or people-pleasing

  • Processing trauma or significant life experiences

  • The mental load, decision fatigue, or feeling stuck

  • Reconnecting to who you are and what you want

If you’re not sure whether your issue fits, you’re welcome to reach out.

What can I expect in a session?

Sessions are 90 minutes, conducted online via secure video. We’ll work collaboratively to explore what’s beneath the surface – the patterns, beliefs, and experiences that shape how you feel and function today. Sessions are structured yet flexible, guided by what you bring and what emerges. You’ll leave with clarity, insight, and practical tools for integration between sessions.

Who I Work With

Who is this therapy for?

I work exclusively with adult women (18+) who are ready for deep, intensive therapeutic work. My clients are often high-functioning but struggling—professional women, expats, and women navigating complex life transitions. This work is for those who want more than surface-level coping strategies and are committed to genuine, lasting change.

Do you work with under 18's?

No, my practice is focused exclusively on adult women aged 18 and over.

Do you work with clients outside Australia?

Yes. My practice is online and I work with English-speaking clients internationally, including expats and women living in the UK, New Zealand, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, and other English-speaking regions.

Do you work with specific issues or diagnoses?

I work with women experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship distress, grief, trauma (both “big T” and “little t”), overwhelm, and life transitions. I don’t require a diagnosis to work together. My focus is on understanding your experience and helping you move from coping to genuine emotional freedom and self-trust.

Do you work with couples or families?

No, I work with individual women only. If you’re seeking couples or family therapy, I’m happy to refer you to qualified colleagues who specialise in relational work.

Booking & Investment

How do I book a session?

You can book directly through my online scheduling system or contact me via the enquiry form. We will be in touch prior to your session to ensure we are a good fit.

What's the difference between single sessions and packages?

Single sessions are 90 minutes and can be booked as needed. They’re ideal for returning clients or those exploring whether this work is right for them. The Deep Work Package includes six 90-minute sessions over 12 weeks, plus between-session support (custom workbook, journal prompts, meditations, and email check-ins). Packages offer continuity, momentum, and deeper integration – ideal for clients committed to sustained change.

What if I can’t find a time that suits me?

If you can’t find a time that works through the online booking calendar, please get in touch.

I keep some flexible availability off-calendar and may be able to offer something that suits you better.

Can I just book one session to start with?

Yes, absolutely.

Single sessions are flexible and can work well if:

  • You’re new and want to see if we’re a good fit

  • You’ve done deeper work in the past and just want a “top-up”

  • You have one specific issue you’d like support with.

When is payment due?

Sessions are paid at the time of booking to secure your appointment. This ensures your session time is reserved exclusively for you. For packages, payment plans are available (3 or 4 instalments). All payments must be completed before the final session.

Are payment plans available?

Yes, payment plans are available for The Deep Work Package. You can choose to pay in 3 instalments of $1,200 AUD or 4 instalments of $900 AUD. All payments must be completed before your final session.

What's your cancellation policy?

I don’t offer cancellations, but I do offer flexibility.

You’re welcome to reschedule your session once – within five business days before or after your original appointment – if a time is available.

If not, the full session fee still applies.

Are packages refundable?

Packages are non-refundable once therapy has begun. If you need to pause or discontinue, we can discuss your options on a case-by-case basis.

Insurance & Funding

Do you accept private health insurance?

I’m registered with several private health insurers. Rebates vary depending on your insurer and level of cover. You pay the full session fee at the time of booking and claim your rebate directly from your insurer. I can provide a receipt with the necessary provider details.

Do you offer Medicare rebates

No. My work sits outside the Medicare model so I can offer more flexibility and depth.

Do you accept NDIS?

I do not bill NDIS directly. If you’re an NDIS participant and wish to work with me, you’re welcome to pay the full session fee and seek reimbursement through your plan. This is between you and your plan manager—I cannot guarantee coverage or assist with claims.

Do you accept Victims of Crime, WorkCover or Redress scheme funding?

I can provide services under these schemes. You pay the full session fee upfront, and I’ll provide the necessary documentation for you to claim reimbursement. Please note that the approved amount may not cover the entire session fee -any shortfall is your responsibility.

Can I get a receipt for reimbursement?

Yes. I provide detailed receipts with all necessary information for you to submit claims to your insurer or funding body. All claims and reimbursements are managed by you.
